Sister Valsa John, a Catholic nun and a member of Sisters of Charity of Jesus and Mary was born in Kerela, India. Hermann Friedrich Mogling (1811–1881), also spelt Herrmann Friedrich Moegling, was a German Missionary from Basel Mission who spent most of his career in the western regions of the state of Karnataka, India. He was credited to be the publisher of the first ever newspaper in the Kannada language called as Mangalooru Samachara in 1843. He was father of Kannada journalism and the first person to compile an English-Kannada dictionary (Kettle) and he played a key role in preserving several classical texts in Kannada. He also translated Kannada literature into German. He was the founder and the first principal of BEM Theological Seminary. Jonathan Goforth, (1859-1936) the first Canadian Presbyterian missionary to China with the Canadian Presbyterian Mission, with his wife, Rosalind Goforth. He was the China's Greatest Evangelist and was one of the greatest foreign missionaries of his era. He became the foremost missionary revivalist in early 20th century China and helped to establish revivalism as a major element in Protestant China missions. He felt God's call to serve in China after hearing Oxford County native George Leslie Mackay, a pioneer Presbyterian missionary to Taiwan, speak; he claimed to sense a call from God to go to China. He married Rosalind Bell Smith. Maria Dyer was born as Maria Tarn, a British Protestant Christian missionary to the Chinese in the Congregationalist tradition, who worked among the Chinese in Malaysia. She arrived in Penang in 1827 with her husband, Samuel Dyer, an agent of the London Missionary Society who devoted his life to mission work in the Straits Settlements, a group of British territories located in Southeast Asia. Maria Dyer established girls' schools and inculcated Christian values and behavior in her Chinese pupils. In Singapore, she founded the earliest girls' school, the Chinese Girls' School, which is present-day St. Margaret's Primary School. Dr T H Somervell, (1890–1975), a Surgeon, Mountaineer, Painter and Medical Missionary who was a member of two expeditions to Mount Everest in 1922 and 1924, was born on April 16, 1890 in Kendal, Westmorland, England. He spent nearly 40 years working as a missionary doctor in India. He was awarded an Olympic Gold Medal by Pierre de Coubertin for his achievements in mountaineering (Alpinism) in 1924. Saint Alphonsa Muttathupadathu, (1910–1946) a Syro-Malabar Catholic Franciscan Religious nun, the First Woman Saint of India, was declared a Servant of God by Pope John Paul II on July 09, 1985. He was known as the "Father of Modern Education in Iran". He was born on January 6, 1871 near Stewartstown, Pennsylvania, United States to James Cowden Jordan and Mary Rosanna Mitchell. Mary Mitchell Slessor, known as "Mother of All the People", was a Scottish missionary to Nigeria, born on 2nd December 1848 in Mutton Brae, which was the home of Mary Slessor, at Aberdeen in Scotland, the second of seven children, only four of whom survived childhood. Her father, Robert Slessor, originally from Buchan, was a shoemaker and her mother, Mrs.Slessor, from Oldmeldrum, was a deeply religious woman of sweet disposition, who had a keen interest in missionary work in the Calabar, South Eastern region of Nigeria. Mary's mother, a strong believer in the Christian faith, had hoped that her eldest son, Robert might become a missionary, but he died at the age of sixteen. At that same time her father was sacked from the shoe factory and the family headed south to Dundee in hope of a new life.

Bernard Mizeki was an African Christian Missionary and Martyr, was born in 1861, at Mamiyeri Mitseka Gwambe in Inhambane, Portuguese East Africa (Mozambique). His parents belong to Shangaan origin named Mamiyeli Mitseki Gwambe. He received no formal education during the early part of his life, there was no local school. He was twelve years old, he left his home and went to Capetown, South Africa, where for the next ten years he worked as a labourer, living in the slums of Capetown, but firmly refusing to drink alcohol and remaining largely uncorrupted by his surroundings. After his day's work, he attended night classes at an Anglican school. Florence Nightingale, the Lady with the Lamp, was a celebrated English Nurse and Pioneering Modern Nursing, Writer and Statistician born on 12 May 1820 at the Villa La Columbaia, near the Porta Romana at Bellosguardo in Florence, Italy; she was named after the city of her birth. Her father, William Edward Nightingale (1794-1874), was son of William Shore, a Sheffield banker. Dr Ida Sophia Scudder an American Medical Missionary in India belongs Reformed Church in America, was born on 09th December 1870 to Dr. John Scudder Jr. and Sophia, part of a long line of medical missionaries. The granddaughter of John Scudder, Sr., as a child in India, she witnessed the famine, poverty and disease in India. She was invited by Dwight Moody to study at his Northfield Seminary in Massachusetts, where she earned a reputation for pranks. David Livingstone, the Pathfinder of Africa, was a Scottish Congregationalist Pioneer Medical Missionary with the London Missionary Society and explorer in Africa, born on 19th March 1813 at Blantyre, Lanarkshire, Scotland to Neil Livingstone and Agnes, a protestant Christian family. At the age of ten, David was employed in the cotton mill of H.Monteith. He and his brother John working for 12-hours daily as "piecers," tying broken cotton threads on the spinning machines. The mill offered their workers schooling took advantage David. His father, Neil Livingstone, a Sunday school teacher and teetotaler, was very committed to his beliefs, handed-out Christian tracts on his travels as a door to door tea salesman and who read extensively books on theology, travel and missionary enterprises. This rubbed off on the young David, who became an avid reader, but he also loved scouring the countryside for animal, plant and geological specimens in local limestone quarries. His fath
