Chief Minister of Telangana announces fund to Christian CommunityThe United Christmas Celebrations (UCC) held in Hyderabad on December 18, 2014 was organised by Federation of Telugu Churches (FTC). Chief Minister of Telangana State in India- Shri K. Chandrasekhar Rao has participated the celebration and announced that he would issue Government Orders next day on some of the demands of the Christian Community. He also announced January 01 (New Year day) as a public holiday.
Accordingly, the Government of Telangana on Friday has announced sanctioning Rs. 10 crore towards construction of a Christian Bhavan in Greater Hyderabad following a nod to this effect from the Cabinet. The Order said it was issued following representation from the community considering their sizeable number in the twin cities. Accordingly, the Christian Bhavan will meet the community’s social needs besides being the hub of all activities, including youth welfare training, conduct of marriages and other socio-cultural functions like celebrating festivals.
The National Congress of Indian Christians (NCIC) and Christians of all denominations expressed happiness over the assurance given by the Telangana Chief Minister, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, in building a Christian Bhavan and the announcement of January 01 (New Year Day) as a public holiday. NCIC President C.A. Daniel Adams said while the Christian community had always supported the Congress, they were also ignored. Because the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) was concerned about the community, Christians would support the TRS unconditionally.
The Federation of Telugu Churches (FTC), consisting of Bishops / Church Heads of major Christian Churches and Denominations thanks him for issuing the following GOs. It expresses its gratitude to the Honourable Chief Minister the promises he made during the UCC regarding the protection of Christians in the State and granting of all the SC schemes and projects to the Dalit Christians following GO No. 341. The FTC is earnestly hoping that he would write a letter to the Prime Minister to grant equal status and constitutional rights to the Dalit Christians.
